I was hoping for a Christmassy theme this week, so I was delighted with messenger. I decided to draw an illuminated manuscript inspired illustration. I love illuminated manuscripts and decorated letters and it's been ages since I've drawn one, so I've enjoyed my afternoon creating this.

I don't know if pandas swim, they don't look very suited to the water. That's why I've given them lots of floating aids :)

Sketchbook Project 2012

I'm very excited about taking part in The Sketchbook Project 2012. I've chosen the theme Treehouse and I'm going to be working with pen and ink throughout my sketchbook. Using only block colours of red, blue, yellow and green.

When you sign up for the project you receive a sketchbook, but I think my ink will bleed through the paper so I've made new pages. I'm going to stitch the pages together when the book is complete.

Anyway, here are a couple of photos to show some of my progress so far.

For Christmas I got a freehand embroidery foot for my sewing machine, so for the past couple of days I've been machine sketching. It's loads of fun! This is my first attempt at stitching fabric into the design and I'm pleased with the result.
